Strangers of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin Releasing on March 18, 2022 With New Demo ‘Coming Soon’

Strangers of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin got a release date at Square Enix’s Tokyo Games Show stream, with the announcement of a new demo coming soon to PS5 and Xbox Series X. The news comes with the reveal of a new trailer for the game. which you can check out below:

For what it’s worth, the new trailer does seem to have been received with a more positive reception, and resembles a more classic Final Fantasy look than its initial unveiling. No more talk of “Chaos” is found in the new trailer, which may be an automatic win for many. The second demo for the game will be available on both PS5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles, and will include “multiplayer features”.

Strangers of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin has certainly been one of the more surprising games in recent times, with its PS5 exclusive demo only furthering the confusion regarding its identity. What was leaked to have been a Final Fantasy game in the shell of a Dark Souls-inspired RPG has, at least with the first demo, turned out to be more similar to Devil May Cry. Some more gameplay has also been revealed after the announcement, which you check out below:

Stranger of Paradise is not a sequel or a prequel to the first Final Fantasy game, although it does use ideas and settings from that for its story.

“[Stranger of Paradise] is not a direct continuation to FF1’s story, but a new story inspired by it,” said creative producer Tetsuya Nomura in a recent IGN interview. “The trial version consists of a part in the beginning of the game in which you enter the Chaos Shrine, which is the same as in FF1.”

Strangers of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin releases March 18, 2022 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X.
