Storm star cops heavy ban in chaotic night
Melbourne Storm forward Tariq Sims will face a stint on the sidelines after he was banned for a high shot on Jackson Hastings.
The Origin representative was sin binned in the 35th minute during his side’s loss to the Knights, for direct and forceful contact to the head.
Sims was charged for a grade two careless high tackle and given a two-match ban, and could face three matches if he appeals and is found guilty at the panel.

The other big incident from Saturday night’s NRL action was a biting accusation in the NRLW, with Broncos debutant Ashleigh Werner referred straight to the judiciary for dangerous contact.
Cowboys winger Mia Middleton has also been given a two-match ban for a dangerous throw on Emily Bass, an offence she was sin binned for in the 53rd minute against the Titans in the NRLW opener.

For Sims, his offences on Saturday night didn’t end with the high tackle, copping a $2,000 fine for a shoulder charge on Mat Croker.
His teammate Harry Grant was also fined $1,000 after falling awkwardly on Phoenix Crossland with his knees going into the hooker’s back.

Knights forward Adam Elliott was also charged for a grade one careless high tackle, receiving a $1,800 fine.

During the Cowboys clash with the Eels, Valentine Holmes was sin binned in controversial circumstances for a high shot on Mitchell Moses.
Cowboys coach Todd Payten accused Moses of “refereeing” after the incident.
Holmes was fined $1,800 for the incident. Eels guns Waqa Blake and Ryan Matterson were also fined for a shoulder charge and dangerous contact throughout the match. Matterson could face a two-match ban if he appeals the $3,000 fine.
