Stephen A. Smith ‘thinking finals’ after Knicks’ first-round win
Stephen A. Smith sees a Knicks NBA Finals appearance in his future.
After the Knicks’ 106-95 first-round series-clinching win over the Cavaliers on Wednesday, the ESPN sports personality tweeted a video, celebrating his team’s victory.
It will be the franchise’s first trip to the second round of the playoffs since 2013 and only their second since 2000.
With cackling laughs and followed by “woah”, Smith happily said “One down. Two more to go. I’m thinking finals, baby! I’m thinking finals!”
‘Orange and blue sky! Orange and blue sky!” he added and followed with repetitions of “Go New York, go New York, go!”
Amidst the excitement, Smith apologized to Cavs star Donovan Mitchell, saying “I love you brother,” but he couldn’t help his energy and added “but YEAH” afterwards.
Smith was not alone in his excitement. Spike Lee, who went to the game in Cleveland, celebrated throughout their big win at a silenced Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse.
Decked out in the blue and orange from head to toe with added accessories including a rally towel that read “All In. All One.” with the Knicks logo, he was a hard to miss sight.
The Knicks will face either the Heat or the Bucks in the second round.
