Steph McGovern shares daughter’s sweet gesture with rare insight into home life

Presenter Steph McGovern, 41, shares her young daughter with her partner and posted a snap of her sweet gesture on social media.

On Friday, the Steph’s Packed Lunch host took to her Instagram stories to reveal that her child had picked out her outfit for the day.

In the now-expired post, the 41-year-old was seen posing for a behind-the-scenes mirror selfie with her tongue out.

In the picture, Steph was wearing a technicolour, sequin-embellished jacket which featured black cuffs and a zip-down front.

She paired the eye-catching pullover with a black crew neck T-shirt, dark trousers, and a silver neck chain.

The TV personality also wore two silver bangles around her left wrist and four rings which could be seen across both hands.

Her fingernails were painted a bold purple, and her blonde hair was pushed back from her face.

In the background of the image, a large Adidas bag and a fan could be spotted, as well as some make-up brushes.

The mum-of-one posted text over the top of the image that read: “Can you tell my daughter picked my clothes to go to work in today…”

The North Shields-born star rarely posts updates about her family and lives a very private life away from the TV screen.

She has been in a relationship with her mystery girlfriend for years, with the pair welcoming their first child in November 2019.

The award-winning journalist announced that she was pregnant with her daughter in July 2019.

She took to Twitter and wrote: “I see my news is out! Yep, I am no longer with pot belly… I am now with child #babyonboard.”

In an interview with the Huffington Post last year, Steph discussed her sexuality and why she never talked about being a gay woman before the tweet.

“I was never asked if I’m honest,” she said.

“I think because I didn’t necessarily look like a gay woman I don’t think people ever bothered to ask me.

“And so my kind of coming out was being pregnant because obviously everyone then asked questions,”

She continued to say that she “grew up in the era where, although there weren’t that many gay women on telly” however, “felt like there were loads around me in a social setting”.

She added: “So I didn’t feel like I needed to do a big thing of ‘hello I am gay’.”
