Stefon Diggs back at Bills practice after bizarre absence confusion
Stefon Diggs is back in action in Buffalo.
The Bills receiver attended the second day of the team’s mandatory minicamp on Wednesday, one day after his absence caused a stir in Western New York.
The sighting comes roughly 24 hours after the three-time Pro Bowler skipped the first day of camp, which head coach Sean McDermott called “very concerning.”
“Stef is not here, everyone else is here at the current time,” McDermott told reporters Tuesday morning.
The back-and-forth only intensified from there as Diggs’ agent, Adisa Bakari, relayed to ESPN’s Adam Schefter that the 29-year-old was in the building earlier this week, including Tuesday morning.
Diggs broke his silence on the matter Tuesday night with a pair of cryptic Instagram posts.
“I just be letting people cap. If them lies help you sleep better tell em big dawg,” the first message read.
“My phone been silent for like 6 years. Ion play all them sounds and s–t,” the follow-up post stated.
Prior to Diggs’ return Wednesday, Allen weighed in on the situation and appeared to fan the flames of confusion.
“I know internally we’re working on some things. Not football-related, but Stef, he’s my guy,” Allen said. “Excuse my…I f–king love him. He’s a brother of mine. This does not work, what we’re doing here, without him.”
Diggs is coming off of a Pro Bowl season in which he had 108 receptions for 1,429 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Although the Bills entered 2022 with Super Bowl aspirations, they were knocked out of the Divisional Round by the Bengals — a scar that still remains for Diggs.
“S–t is small little pieces on why s–t is not going right. You can rack your brain, like we got the players. We got the plays. Why s–t ain’t coming together?” Diggs said on HBO’s “The Shop: Uninterrupted” in March when discussing Buffalo’s early playoff exits the last two years.
Prior to January’s playoff ouster, the Bills suffered a heartbreaking overtime loss to the Chiefs in the 2022 Divisional Round.
Diggs is entering his fourth season in Buffalo and is under contract through 2026 after signing a four-year, $96 million extension with the team last April.
