Less than a day after receiving their gaming device, Steam Deck players soon found out about significant joystick drift, but apparently, it’s been fixed now!
The joystick drift issue is one of the major gaming problems in the world that has not been completely fixed yet. Even after all these years, Nintendo Switch players are dealing with Joy-Con drift problems every day. Xbox also had the same issue with the first release of Elite 2 controllers.

Hopefully, we haven’t seen the drift problem with the Xbox Series X|S and PS5 controllers to be as widespread as before, but Steam’s new gaming platform almost shocked its owners when they realize that Deck’s right joystick has a significant drift.

Valve Has Already Rolled Out a Software Fix for the Steam Deck Drift Issue
When a Reddit user shared footage of his Steam Deck suffering from a significant drift on the right joystick, it worried all the gamers who have already pre-ordered the device, but hopefully, Valve put an end to this very soon.
According to Valve, the drift in Steam Deck’s joystick is only a software issue with the calibration, which already has a fix and that fix is now out. So, if you have received your Steam Deck, try updating your device’s software as soon as possible.
Valve also mentioned that they will continue to investigate the reports on Steam Deck and drifting issues going forward to find out if anything other than a software bug would cause the drift.
The first batch of Steam Decks is now out and being delivered to those who pre-ordered first. If you haven’t received yours yet, then you might need to wait for a few weeks more.
