Sheridan Smith was all aflutter on ITV singing series Starstruck when three singers took the stage as Marvin Gaye, fanning herself as they steamed things up with their performance of the sultry song Let’s Get It On.

In the first episode of the brand new programme, judges Adam Lambert, Beverley Knight, Jason Manford and Sheridan were presented with four trios of singers, with each group being transformed into iconic musicians as Olly Murs presented the show.

First up was Team Freddie Mercury, followed by Team Ariana Grande, Team Marvin Gaye and lastly, Team Lady Gaga.

When the time came for Team Marvin to take to the stage, the judges were immediately transfixed, with all four of them grooving to the legendary 1973 tune.

Sheridan gazed at the trio adoringly as they belted out the lyrics, while Beverley was also seen loving the performance, as Jason fanned her from the side.

When it came to an end and the judges spoke to the real-life singers behind the costumes, Dayton, Jordan and Coffee, Sheridan needed a moment to compose herself.

‘Somebody call 999 because I think Sheridan and Beverley might need some help,’ Olly joked, before going to Beverley for her critique first.

‘Oh lord have his mercy,’ she said, before praising the singers on the soulfulness of their voices and the way in which they captured Marvin’s recognisable physicality.

Turning to Sheridan next, he asked the actor: ‘Sheridan, have you calmed down?’

‘No, not yet,’ she replied, as she fanned herself and threw her head back laughing, as the singers on stage chuckled over her reaction.

Describing them all as ‘so gorgeous’, the Four Lives star said: ‘It’s hard to do Marvin Gaye because he’s got that sexy voice, that sex appeal, that bedroom look that you all had going on.’

As things became heated up in the room once more, Olly asked: ‘What is going on in the studio?’

‘I’d better shut up now,’ Sheridan quipped.

Showcasing his way with words, Jason said that their rendition of Let’s Get It On ‘wasn’t music’, but instead it was ‘a massage’, adding: ‘I feel like my ears have been on a spa weekend.’

At the end of the show, Team Freddie Mercury were announced as the winning group, meaning that they then had to sing against each other.

Rob was crowned the winner of the week, meaning that he has a place in the final and a chance to win £50,000.

Starstruck returns next Saturday evening on ITV and is available to watch on ITV Hub.
