Wallabies legend Tim Horan has called Pete Samu’s impending move to France ”a huge loss for Australian rugby.”
Multiple French outlets have reported that the Brumbies and Australia loose forward will join Top 14 club Bordeaux on a two-year deal after the Rugby World Cup.
Samu, 31, has played 32 Tests for the Wallabies since making his debut in 2018.

His versatility – able to cover all three positions in the backrow – is a major asset and Samu’s name was on Wallabies coach Eddie Jones’ leaked team sheets last week.
Horan bemoaned Samu’s move during Saturday’s Brumbies vs Reds Super Rugby Pacific clash in Canberra.
Samu was second on Stan Sport’s Australian player of the year leaderboard after the first two rounds.

“I thought Pete Samu was absolutely outstanding,” Morgan Turinui said after the upset win over the Blues in Melbourne.
“You talk about a Test match standard game, I thought he excelled in that. Changed his role up within the game a few times, showed his great skill, but balancing it so well with the tough stuff.
“We keep talking about breakdown and physicality in matches, the backrows that stand up. Talking to Joey (Wheeler) about all the backrowers in New Zealand he was saying you put anyone in a black jersey, they’re so good across the board. To be able to stand up in the heat of those battles I think’s important.”
