What’s more romantic than a loved one who knows your coffee (or tea) order and brings it to you without asking?

This weekend that gesture will be made even better, because Starbucks stores across the country are giving away reusable cups with bespoke designs.

And what’s more, the drinks giant will also be inscribing their cups with sweet messages on Valentine’s Day.

On the 11 February, the first 100 customers to buy a Starbucks reusable cup in participating stores will get the opportunity for an artist to personalise their purchase.

You can add your name (or the name of your beau), a sweet message and choose a pretty design. Then, if you reuse your customised cup, you can enjoy 25p off each time.

It could even make a cheap last-minute Valentine’s gift for the coffee lover in your life.

Customers in London, Manchester and Edinburgh can head to three select stores to get their hands on a bespoke illustrated reusable cup, decorated in-store by three local artists-in-residence.

Illustrator Bee Illustrates is one of those artists. They said: ‘I’m thrilled to be working on this partnership and through it, hopefully encourage people to make the most of their reusable cups and spread a little joy at the same time. I’m so excited to celebrate love in all its forms and share my art in the process.

‘Valentine’s Day is typically focused entirely on romantic love, and I wanted to use my art to celebrate iterations of love that fall outside of that category. As a queer person, celebrating love that looks a little different is a reoccurring theme within my art, and this design embodies that.’

Artists Pypah Santos and Katie Smith will also be taking up residence in two stores in Manchester and Edinburgh, but for customers not located near the three select stores, there are still ways to take part.

Available on the 14 February, customers ordering any Starbucks drink from Deliveroo, Just Eat and Uber Eats could receive a handwritten note on their cup.

The following are the artists and the participating Starbucks stores.
