Star Wars Outlaws Gets Detailed Info on Mechanics and Gorgeous Direct Feed Screens

Following an exciting gameplay reveal at Summer Game Fest 2023’s Ubisoft Forward conference, Ubisoft shared the first details on Star Wars Outlaws with the press via a fact sheet document, as well as a set of gorgeous direct feed screenshots.

Set between Empire Strikes Back and Return to Jedi, Star Wars Outlaws takes place at a time when the Galactic Empire is tightening its vicious grip across the galaxy. However, the criminal underworld composed of syndicates like the Pykes, the Hutts, and a brand new one crafted for this game is thriving more than ever. Protagonist Kay Vess (played by actress Humberly González, who previously starred in Ubisoft’s Far Cry 6 as Mercedes ‘Jonrón’ Martin) is a Han Solo-inspired scoundrel with the pressing goal of freeing herself from a dangerous bounty looming on her head. On Kay’s journey to freedom, players will be able to accept risky contracts from the aforementioned criminal syndicates, stealing valuable goods and infiltrating secret locales. Choices made during the various missions will affect Kay’s reputation with the various factions. She’ll also get the opportunity to persuade various fellow outlaws to join her.

Her first and most loyal companion is Nix, though. The little fellow helps her in combat by providing distractions at the right time. Kay can also use her blaster, not to mention stealth and various gadgets, to defeat her foes.

Star Wars Outlaws empowers players to explore distinct planets in the Outer Rim (such as the jungle planet of Akiva and the desert planet of Toshara) featuring bustling cities and seedy cantinas. As Kay, they’ll get to race across the outdoor landscapes with the trusty speeder. Each planet features unique adventures and challenges, not to mention juicy rewards for those willing to take the risks.

Star Wars Outlaws also delivers on the spaceship fantasy. Kay’s Trailblazer allows her to engage in exhilarating dogfights with enemies like the Empire and outlaws. Players will have to find the right moments to attack, evade, or chase to be victorious.

The fact sheet also confirmed that it’s a single player only game. Powered by Snowdrop, it’ll be released next year on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S|X.
