Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and Lower Decks Renewed at Paramount+

Paramount+ revealed quite a bit of Star Trek news today, announcing that the next seasons of Strange New Worlds and Lower Decks will be premiere this summer and renewing them both for additional seasons.

Strange New Worlds Season 2 will premiere on June 15 on Paramount+ in the U.S, the U.K., Australia, Latin America, Brazil, France, Italy, Germany, Switzerland and Austria, with new installments of the 10-episode season available to stream weekly on Thursdays. Season 2 will also be available to stream in South Korea, although a premiere date there has yet to be announced.

Lower Decks Season 4, however, wasn’t given an exact premiere date, but Paramount+ said it will debut in the late summer in the U.S. International territories will be announced at a later date. Star Trek: Prodigy, meanwhile, will drop its second season on Paramount+ sometime in the winter.

Additionally, Strange New Worlds was renewed for a third season and Lower Decks for a fifth. Each season will consist of 10 episodes.

As previously announced, Star Trek: Discovery will debut its fifth and final season in early 2024. Speaking to IGN earlier this year, Jonathan Frakes said he’s “told they have a very satisfying fix so that it will conclude in a way that will tie the story up.”

Strange New Worlds debuted to warm reception last year, with IGN giving Season 1 a 10/10. In his review, Scott Collura wrote that it “manages to recapture the joy of classic Trek in a way that perhaps many of us didn’t know was missing until we experienced this show.”
