WARNING: This article contains full spoilers for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse has a massive amount of cameos and easter eggs peppered throughout the movie.
On top of a number of deep-cut comic book references, the picture also showed snippets of some live-action Spider-Men, including Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire in some of their most iconic scenes from the past.
But one Spidey actor was noticeably absent: Tom Holland; the current Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
It sounds like viewers may have missed out on the British actor’s appearance in the movie, however, according to one of the film’s bosses.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse directors Kemp Powers, Joaquim Dos Santos and Justin K Thompson recently spoke to Variety about bringing the live-action portions of the movie to life.
With that, they revealed they axed a “huge” scene involving real-life actors before the film hit cinemas.
Powers said: “There were times when we had huge live-action sequences in the film, and it just turned into a bad joke. Even we didn’t like it anymore.”
Eventually, Powers said, the directors agreed: “OK, enough, let’s make sure that it’s something precise that gets the most bang for the buck, and speaks to the story.”
This unfortunately meant that a massive live-action sequence didn’t grace cinema screens in the movie – which could have meant a crossover with Holland’s Spider-Man and Miles Morales.
However, it seems as if the MCU has already crossed over with the Spider-Verse series with the arrival of actor Donald Glover.
Glover briefly played, Aaron Davis – The Prowler – in Spider-Man: Homecoming, but was quickly thwarted.
The Community actor returned as Davis in Across the Spider-Verse, captured by Spider-Man 2099.
Powers recalled: “[The cameo] was shot at a studio in New York. Chris Miller flew to be there in person, and Phil Lord and I were on the video feed giving direction. We got it in at the 11th hour. As a matter of fact, even in audience preview screenings, it was a little cardboard cutout of Donald Glover.”
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is in cinemas now.
