Spain extends Covid restrictions for unvaccinated Brits – affecting Easter hols

SPAIN has extended its Covid entry requirements until the end of the month – affecting Brits heading abroad for their Easter holidays.

Until April 30, only vaccinated Brits or those who can show proof of recovery from Covid can enter Spain.

That means unvaccinated people who cannot show that they had Covid within the last six months are still not permitted to enter.

The popular holiday destination was expected to relax the entry requirement at the end of March, which would have come as a boost to unvaccinated Brits with plans to visit Spain during the Easter holidays.

But, according to local media, the Ministry of Health has extended the rules until the end of this month, which will come as a blow to anyone who now can’t go away.

There are different rules for teens, as they don’t need to be vaccinated to enter Spain.

Kids aged between 12 and 17 who haven’t had both of their jabs can enter by showing proof of a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours prior to arriving in Spain.

Spain is also one of several European holiday destinations that has placed an expiration date on vaccines.

To enter, you must be able to prove you were fully vaccinated against Covid within the last 270 days.

If you received your second dose more than nine months ago, you must have had a booster jab to be allowed in.

It’s not all bad news as Spain has relaxed a lot of its Covid restrictions in recent weeks.

The country has ditched Covid testing and quarantine rules for anyone who has mild symptoms of the virus or those who are asymptomatic.

The Canary Islands – which include Tenerife, Lanzarote and Gran Canaria – are operating with no Covid restrictions for the first time since the pandemic began.

The suspension of Covid restrictions means bars and restaurants are back to 100 per cent capacity both indoors and outdoors, and dancing has finally returned in clubs and discos.

Additionally, the Balearic Islands have ended most of their restrictions due to an improvement in Covid cases.
