Sooryavanshi Box Office Collection Day 3: Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif starrer witness blockbuster first weekend

Diwali 2021 saw the release of Rohit Shetty directorial ‘Sooryavanshi’ starring Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh. While fans loved the action-packed masalsa entertainer, the makers got a surprise when the film minted Rs 50 crore on its opening two days. While everyone is waiting for the box office collection of the opening weekend, it is expected that the film will go up till Rs 81 crore. The collections on the first day turned up to 26.29 crores while on the second day, the numbers earned were 23.85 crores. Going by the chain, it is expected that on Sunday, the film will witness a huge growth and the weekend collection will emerge the biggest till date for Akshay Kumar. 

Meanwhile, media and Internet research analyst Karan Taurani said the film will record a “lifetime earning” of Rs 140-150 crore, “which is 30 per cent below pre-Covid levels”. The box-office, though, will only do better once the limitation of 50 per cent occupancy is lifted across states. “It is very important for the relaxation to happen,” Taurani said, adding the momentum is likely to be maintained over the next two-three weeks because more content-rich medium- and big-budget films are coming.

Meanwhile, trade analyst Taran Adarsh who has been sharing the film’s collection announced Sooryavanshi’s entry in the Rs 50 crores club at the box office on the second day of its release. Taking to Twitter, he wrote, “#Sooryavanshi crosses Rs 50 cr… SUPER-STRONG HOLD on Day 2… Slight dip in night shows vis-a-vis Day 1… Expect a BIGGG SCORE on Day 3, should comfortably cross Rs 75 cr, may even touch Rs 80 cr [+/-], PHENOMENAL… Fri 26.29 cr, Sat 23.85 cr. Total: Rs 50.14 cr. #India biz.”

After facing several hardships, filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s ‘Sooryavanshi’ was finally released in theatres on Friday. The cop drama was originally slated to release on March 24 last year but was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which led to the shutting down of cinema halls. ‘Sooryavanshi’ is a continuation of the cop action ‘Singham’ universe, which began with the Ajay Devgn starrer ‘Singam’ and ‘Singham Returns’, then expanded with ‘Simmba’, starring Ranveer Singh and Devgn, and now is going forward with Akshay Kumar’s character.

Apart from Akshay, ‘Sooryavanshi’ also features Katrina Kaif in the lead role. In ‘Sooryavanshi’ Akshay portrays the role of a DSP who fights crime. Katrina plays the role of Akshay’s love interest in the film. The movie also features special cameos by Ajay Devgn (Singham) and Ranveer Singh (Simmba).
