During the Executive Summit 2022, MediaTek announced that its first SoC for VR will power the PSVR 2. This news confirms popular analyst Ming Chi Kuo’s past claims that PSVR 2 will be powered by a MediaTek chipset.

According to a report by AndroidCentral, MediaTek is developing two SoCs for the PSVR2. The display will be powered by the primary SoC and the controllers will be sporting the secondary SoC. The announcement about MediaTek-powered PSVR 2 comes just weeks after the company launched its latest 5G Chipset, the Dimensity 9200. 9200 is slated to power the next generation of smartphones, bringing extreme performance and intelligent power saving to the table. The chipset will also feature immersive all-day gaming experiences, ultra-sharp image capturing and support for both mmWave 5G and sub-6GHz connectivity to consumers around the globe.

Dimensity 9200 is the first smartphone chip to incorporate an Arm Cortex X3, which will operate on speeds over 3Ghz. Moreover, players can also expect MediaTek HyperEngine 6.0 Gaming Technology along with MediaTek MiraVision 890 display technology for the best visuals and gaming experience.

Besides, users can expect 30% power savings with AI-NR and 45% power savings with AI-SR for all visual-based applications. The chipset is also the first Wi-Fi 7-ready smartphone platform, where users can expect up to 6.5 Gbps data rates.
