Sons of the Forest Gets Its First Update with a Plethora of Bug Fixes, the Addition of Hang Gliders and More

Sons of the Forest by Endnight Games has taken the survival horror gaming by storm. Players are in love with the Survival Horror Simulator that demands you to build, craft, fight demons in order to survive in this painstaking world. They have also been mesmerised with the capabilities and antics of the AI companion, Kelvin, that the game provides you with.

At the moment, Sons of the Forest is in its Early Access stage and hasn’t officially released yet. Developers are looking towards player feedback and involvement in order to provide them with the ultimate survivor horror experience. Sons of the Forest has just received its first update in Early Access stage and this one brings new player features, balancing changes, improvements and bunch of bug fixes.

Sons of the Forest Patch 01

Features

The new update adds tools such as binoculars, hang gliders, and defensive wall gate. The game will also add a mid-game boss fight in the food bunker. The reset option has been added to settings and the Virginia leather suit pick up that was missing has been added as well.

Players will also be given additional story elements. Moreover, a new headshot animation has been added for cannibals. Angry cannibals will now attack by jumping from trees, while small birds will land and eat/gain fullness.

Furthermore, players will be able to hide player name tags and projectile reticle and trajectory. Fish trap is functional as well, and players can now catch fish in 5-10 minute intervals barring the winter season. Select cannibal villages will have lookout towers, and players can also “zoom” in on the UI for Story Paper pickups. Lastly, new structure type called One Sided Apex has been added to the game.

For balancing changes, improvements, fixes, and audio improvements, players can check out the Sons of the Forest Full Patch 01 Notes on the game’s Steam Page.

Sons of the Forest Update Fixes Kelvin, Upsets Fans

Sons of the Forest has also made some tweaks to Kelvin’s behavior in order to make him smarter and more efficient. These changes include Kelvin’s catch fish order, which ends after a time period. Kelvin will also not cut trees with player structures attached. Moreover, he will not drop and destroy the radio.

It seems as though the clumsy behavior of Kelvin was a part of the AI companion’s charm. A post on the r/TheForest subreddit (via GamesRadar) shows how disappointed players are after their beloved AI companion had been fixed. Many have also suggested the addition of a button to switch his personalities between clumsy and clever versions of Kelvin.
