Sonny Bill dishes on Jake Paul fight plan
Sonny Bill Williams has revealed his camp are in talks with YouTube star turned boxer Jake Paul about a potential August fight.
Paul last week identified Williams as a potential opponent along with Floyd Mayweather, former UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping and 49-year-old former boxing world champion Oscar De La Hoya.
“I’m maybe looking at August, getting back in the ring,” Williams told Nine and Stan Sport’s Nick McArdle from Super Rugby Pacific’s Super Round in Melbourne.
Tyson Fury vs Dillian Whyte on Sunday April 24 will be live and ad-free only on Stan Event. The fight can be purchased by Stan customers for $60. The ring walks for the main event are expected at 6.45am AEST with the first round bell no later than 7.10am
SBW on Jake Paul ‘hit list’
“Jake Paul, his people have reached out to mine and they’re talking so who knows. The main thing is I’m very excited and very grateful to be back in the ring, on Stan, boxing.”
Williams had previously told the Sydney Morning Herald that Paul would probably “underestimate” him by watching old fights.
“I feel in the last six months I’ve improved tenfold, so it’s the confidence I have in my ability,” Williams said.

“It would probably be a catchweight fight, I’d probably have to drop under 100kg. I know he sits at around 95-96kg, so that could work.”
Williams also tipped Tyson Fury to defeat Dillian Whyte in Sunday morning’s (AEST) world title fight at Wembley.
The code-hopping star spent time training with Fury in England before beating Barry Hall in a first round knockout.
Fury plays mind games at weigh-in
“The biggest thing I learnt from Tyson Fury was his mental strength,” Williams said.
“He’s a very unassuming bloke physically, just what he looks like, but he’s actually really strong, really fit. But it was his mental strength that amazed me.
“It’s the biggest boxing event in British history and I’m looking forward to watching it.”
