Smashing beer cans, ice fishing, pinball wizards and more things to do in Denver this weekend
Dry Dock’s Can Bash
Saturday. Feeling smashy? From noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 21, Dry Dock Brewing Co. in Aurora celebrates National Can Appreciation Day with its third annual Can Bash.
What’s a can bash? “Think Top Golf meets a destruction room and craft brewing, all on a driving range we set up for the event,” the brewery explains. In other words, attendees get to use golf clubs to tee off on mostly full cans of beer (all of which are “low-fills,” meaning they were unsellable). The Can Bash takes place at Dry Dock’s North Dock location, 2801 Tower Road, and requires a tee time.
Reservations are $30 and include 50 minutes at the driving range, a table for up to six people, and three cases of low-fill or out-of-date cans of beer to hit. Golf clubs are provided and all cans will be recycled. Attendees must be 21 or older and “are encouraged to come dressed in clothes that can handle getting wet. Ice fishing, demystified
Saturday. Have you ever wanted to give ice fishing a try but didn’t know where to start? Then Colorado Parks and Wildlife has an answer to that question. The department will host an ice fishing clinic at Kriley Pond at Golden Gate Canyon State Park on Saturday, Jan. 21.
“All the necessary equipment will be provided for you, but you are welcome to bring your own if you prefer,” organizers said. All participants 16 and older must have a valid Colorado fishing license; an annual or daily state parks pass is also required to attend this clinic. Both the license and the pass can be purchased day-of at the visitor center. Register at bit.ly/3iOAlg6. — Jonathan Shikes
