Sky TV owners warned of costly mistake – check your account now
SKY TV owners who have an old Netflix account might have to do a bit of leg work to avoid being overcharged.
All Sky’s TV subscriptions now include access to Netflix as standard.
You should be able to link your old account to your Sky account, meaning you don’t have to do the paperwork.
But customers who signed up to Netflix via Apple years ago might have to do it themselves.
Before 2018, you could join Netflix using the payment details Apple have on your iPhone.
But the streaming site made a huge change after that, re-directing people to sign up on their own website instead.
“We have Netflix & recently got Sky Q, which already includes it,” one customer said.
“The info said, Sky would sort it so that we weren’t going to be charged for Netflix outwith (sic) our sky plan, but we’re still being charged through our Apple account.
“How do we stop these payments, please?”
So it might be worth checking you’re not still being charged twice.
One way to check is by looking at the iPhone’s subscriptions.
You can do this by going to Settings and tapping on your name.
Hit Subscriptions and look to see if Netflix is listed.
You may be able to unsubscribe from it right there and then.
Be warned, we don’t know if you’ll lose all your recommendations this way.
The customer in this case spoke to Apple support to resolve the issue.
