Skip Bayless’ wife isn’t speaking to him after his Heat-Celtics fit
Things sound a little tense in the Bayless household.
“Undisputed” host Skip Bayless said his wife, Ernestine Sclafani, is still not speaking to him because he threw a fit after the Celtics stunned the Heat 104-103 on Saturday night to force a Game 7 in the Eastern Conference finals.
During Monday’s installment of the Fox Sports show, Bayless said he was overemotional and couldn’t sleep after Boston evened the series.
“I still have not recovered from Saturday night,” Bayless told co-host Shannon Sharpe. “My wife is still not speaking to me because… I threw a fit.
“She walked in and said, ‘What do you want to eat?’ and I’m like, ‘What do I want to eat?’” Bayless recalled while slamming his hands on the anchor desk.
“That game, for me, might’ve been the wackiest, nuttiest, craziest game I have ever tried to figure out,” he wrote on Twitter, including a clip of him discussing his wife.
“I couldn’t even sleep on Saturday night! The freaking Boston Celtics shot the worst from 3 they have ALL year long!”
Bayless couldn’t believe the Celtics pulled off the win, capped off with a buzzer-beating putback by Derrick White as time expired.
It came after Miami’s Jimmy Butler appeared to secure the win, sinking three free throws with three seconds left for a one-point lead.
Butler got off to a miserable start in the game before some clutch late shooting put the Heat in position to win.
“… I was out of my mind,” Bayless said. “I was savaging Jimmy Butler on Twitter because I couldn’t help myself… For once, the Butler didn’t do it, because he couldn’t do anything.”
The FS1 host went on to say that Butler — who scored Miami’s final 10 points — redeemed himself at the end with his three made free throws.
But then, the Celtics had White inbound the ball on the game’s final possession.
White passed the ball to Marcus Smart — who missed a three-pointer — and ran to the rim, where he made a last-second layup to extend Boston’s season.
Game 7 is in Boston on Monday night.
The winner will face the Denver Nuggets in the NBA Finals, beginning June 1.
