SJL business awards help UK entrepreneurs succeed

Winners will be awarded a grant of £2,000 or more, one year’s free mentoring and free publicity to increase their commercial standing. All those aged 18 and over can apply, with finalists pitching to judges on Wednesday, November 22 at an event in the House of Commons.

The foundation currently raises money for ethical start-up businesses and Acorns Children’s Hospices Trust.

Broker and dedicated apprenticeships supporter SJL Insurance Services, whose owner and chief executive is Simon Lancaster, is the foundation’s main sponsor.

To enter email [email protected] for an application pack. The form has eight questions and each entrant should include a three-minute video of themselves saying what their business does, and how they’d spend the grant.  Closing date for entries is 12pm noon on Wednesday, October 12, 2022.

Among the judges are Simon Lancaster, Kerry Hopkins, owner of broadcast public relations agency the Broadcast Academy and Annabel Kaye, founder of legal advice company KoffeeKlatch. Worcester MP Robin Walker will host the morning reception.

Simon Lancaster commented: “The awards help our foundation achieve our purpose of paying it forward to help other entrepreneurs. We are entering a tough time for businesses, what with the rise of inflation, higher taxes and increased costs.

“But that does not mean a business can’t succeed right now which is what mentoring from SJL’s senior staff and my associates aims to help the winners achieve.”

All finalists will travel to the House of Commons ready for a 07:15am arrival and the event finishes at 10am. SJL Foundation
