Simone Biles, a gold medalist who famously partially withdrew from the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, has married her footballer husband Jonathan Owens.
In the ceremony, organised by the bride at short notice, the gymnast wore the Auguste tiered frill midi dress in white from the online retailer Selfie Leslie.
The online clothing retailer describes itself as “one of the hottest trendy online shops in the market today”.
The dress, with a plunging neckline and a low back, cost $199.99 or £96.31 and is a budget option for the medallist.
However, she later disclosed on her Instagram that the gown is the first of five dresses she will be wearing during her wedding celebrations.

She made the revelation and wrote: “It’s kind of dramatic but you only have a wedding once.”
A bigger wedding is planned in a couple of weeks, and it will be a destination wedding.
The gymnast bought all of the items in the week running up to this courthouse wedding.
That includes the White Tube Strappy Laces Up High Heels she wore from Pretty Little Thing, which cost $48, and wedding bands from Amazon.
Biles wed her husband in the 1910 Harris County Courthouse in Texas. Weddings in the courthouse cost $350 on Thursdays and Fridays.
On the weekend weddings in the courthouse before 6 pm cost $500 and after, $550.
Biles told fans the most expensive element of her upcoming destination wedding was the flowers. The gymnast said: “We went so over budget that we decided there is no longer a budget.”
She’ll be having eight bridesmaids at the wedding and the colour scheme is Champagne, gold, and white.
Biles posted a number of professional images from her wedding day and sweetly captioned one black and white shot: “I never knew a love so deep.”
Twenty-six-year-old Biles has been in a relationship with Owens since August 2020. They announced their engagement on February 15, 2022. Previously she dated gymnast Stacey Ervin Jr from August 2017 to March 2020.
The engagement ring from Owens is a large oval diamond on a pave diamond band. It’s thought to be worth $300,000.
