Simon Cowell quits London and sells £45m home because ‘he no longer feels safe

Britain’s Got Talent and X Factor creator Simon Cowell has apparently decided to leave London and sell his luxurious £45m house in Holland Park following a string of home invasions that have left him feeling “unsafe”.

The 63-year-old TV boss has reportedly told friends Central London no longer feels like a secure place for his family to live, with the Daily Mail reporting he quietly sold his house in a deal completed a few days ago.

Simon has been with partner Lauren Silverman since 2013 and the pair share a nine-year-old son named Eric.

The family have apparently already begun a new life together in the country, where Simon hopes they will be less of a target for burglars.

Express.co.uk has contacted Simon’s representatives for comment.

In the house Simon owned for 16 years, he endured several stressful break-in attempts.

In 2012, the talent show judge was reportedly forced to call security after a woman with a brick got into the bathroom of his house, with his spokesman calling the incident “very frightening”.

In 2015, a thief was said to have stolen £1 million in jewellery and passports from his house while his family was asleep.

Simon later told the court in an impact statement that the break-in had left him in “constant fear” that something like that could happen again.

The latest scare for the millionaire came just last month, when he had spent £500,000 on security measures only to discover that a security expert had offered to sell a decoder which could unlock his front door.

Of a criminal gang’s alleged plan to ransack his house this year, he said: “I was in total shock.

“The fact that it is possible for a person to obtain the software code to sell to someone — so they could rob the house my family live in — is disgusting.

“To even consider doing this is dangerous and reckless,” he added.

Since then, the aforementioned paper has claimed a pal of Simon’s said that the star had also become afraid of “street gangs” and general neighbourhood safety.

Other celebrities living near the Holland Park area include Ed Sheeran, David and Victoria Beckham and Robbie Williams.
