Silent Hill: The Short Message Was Removed From The Taiwanese Rating Board’s Database

It has been a while since we heard anything about Silent Hill: The Short Message, one of the new entries in the classic survival horror series by Konami that is finally coming back into the spotlight after years of hiatus. Something seems to be going on with the game, and it may not be anything good.

As reported by Dusk Golem on Twitter, the game, which was rated last year in Taiwan, was recently removed from the Taiwanese Rating Board’s database. This could mean, as Dusk Golem notes, that the game was either canceled or because the release date was changed to a later one. It’s not all bad news regarding the Silent Hill franchise, however, as the reveal trailer for Silent Hill: Ascension has started appearing on Twitter as a promoted tweet, so there’s the chance that the marketing machine is getting oiled up for the promotion of the upcoming entries in the series.

Silent Hill: The Short Message isn’t the only entry in the survival horror series by Konami that is in the works. Alongside the already mentioned Silent Hill: Ascension, Konami is working together with Bloober Team on the Silent Hill 2 remake, which, according to the development team, will faithfully stick to the traditional story canon, featuring only changes for certain areas and enemy AI to make the experience feel more modern and more fun to play. As for when the game will release, no one can say at the moment, as a report from last month saying work on the remake was almost finished, and the release date was up to Konami, were confirmed to be a mistranslation by Bloober Team.
