Shri Jagannath Sanskrit Vishvavidyalaya gets new VC – Times of India

BHUBANESWAR: Rabindra Kumar Panda, a professor, has been appointed as the new vice-chancellor of Shree Jagannath Sanskrit Vishvavidyalaya (SJSV) at Puri for a period of four years. Panda is presently working as a professor of Sanskrit, Pali and Prakrit at The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda.
Odisha governor and chancellor of state public universities Ganeshi Lal has appointed Panda, alumnus of SJSV Puri, for the VC post for a period of four years with effect from the date he assumes office as such or until further orders whichever is earlier.
Panda, who has completed his Acharya and Vishist Acharya in Nyaya from SJSV Puri, belongs to Hatasahi locality in Jajpur district. He has received the University Gold Medal for securing highest marks in Acharya from SJSV in 1984. He has more than 29 years of teaching experience. He has authored 45 books and guided 10 PhD scholars, official sources said.
Term of Harihar Hota, the present vice-chancellor of the university, will be completed this month. The higher education department had issued an advertisement for appointment of vice chancellor of the SJSV, Puri. The government had sent names of three candidates for consideration of the governor. The chancellor of state public universities selected Panda after interviewing three candidates.
In a related development, the government will issue advertisements seeking applications from candidates for the post of vice-chancellor of Sambalpur University. The post lied vacant after Sanjiv Mittal tendered his resignation from the post of vice-chancellor of Sambalpur University recently on medical grounds.
Now PG Council chairperson of Sambalpur University will continue as the in-charge VC of the institution till regular VC joins or until further orders.
