Shaun Wallace addresses The Chase ‘rivalry’ with Bradley Walsh and show future
Shaun Wallace is known for his on-screen banter with Bradley Walsh as the quizmaster admitted the duo frequently go back and forth on the programme.
The Chase quizzer and the main presenter, both 63, keep viewers entertained with their on-air quips and brutal comebacks, with some viewers even suggesting it’s like “watching your parents fight”.
Shaun has since admitted their on-screen “rivalry” is no more than entertainment as he revealed the pair get on very well.
When quizzed about their relationship, Shaun said: “We do [go back and forth]. I think it’s the fact that I’m two days older than him and we’re tuned from a different mother.”
“We get on really, really well,” the quizzer said. “He should be arriving soon [to the TRIC Awards] in a stretch limo.”
The quizmaster, who has been a part of The Chase since its launch in 2009, admitted he plans on being a Chaser for as long as possible and added he won’t be slowing down any time soon.
Speaking about the show’s future, the barrister commented: “As long as ITV and the public have an appetite for it.
“As long as my bosses think I’m good enough to continue being a Chaser then I’ll continue on The Chase.”
The quiz show first aired in 2009 and remains a popular fan favourite with The Chase being honoured during the non-televised awards on Tuesday as the programme scooped Best Game Show Award.
Shaun attended the TRIC Awards which welcomed a host of Britain’s best known TV stars to Park Lane’s Grosvenor House on Tuesday including Eamonn Holmes and Charlotte Hawkins.
In addition, host Bradley also won big as he lifted the trophy for Best TV Personality as voted by the viewers.
The annual ceremony celebrates the biggest and best names in TV, radio and online shows across the last 12 months, as well as the talent that hit our screens and airwaves every day.
The Chase airs weekdays on ITV1 and ITVX at 5pm.
