Sharks premiership heroes eye unlikely return

Two premiership-winning outside backs want to return to the NRL in 2023.

Classy centre Ricky Leutele and powerhouse winger Sosaia Feki – both members of Cronulla’s historic first premiership-winning team of 2016 – are being shopped to NRL clubs.

The pair have spent the last few seasons in Super League and both are homesick and ready to come back to Australia.

Leutele, 32, is playing for the Huddersfield club this season. The veteran centre will always be remembered by Sharks fans as making the final tackle of the 2016 grand final just when Melbourne looked like they were going to snatch the game.

Feki has had a wretched run with injury at Castleford and Featherstone, playing less than 20 minutes in three seasons in Super League.

But the 31-year-old is nearing a return to action and NRL clubs that remember his dangerous running game may be prepared to throw him a train and trial deal for 2023.
