Sensational twist as Bol cleared of doping
Australian Olympic star Peter Bol’s provisional suspension has been lifted after he was cleared following a positive drug test last October.
Bol maintained his innocence throughout and has been exonerated after his B sample did not confirm his A sample, which had returned an adverse finding to the performance-enhancing erythropoietin receptor agonists drugs, EPO.
“Last month I told everyone that I was innocent and asked that everyone in Australia believe me and let the process play out,” Bol said in a statement on Tuesday.

“I was hopeful that the process would exonerate me.
“This morning, I am relieved to report that it did.”
The 28-year-old, who won a silver medal in the 800m at last year’s Commonwealth Games, described the ordeal in which he was provisionally suspended by Athletics Australia as a “nightmare”.
“I appreciate the support I have received from my family, my team and from so many people from Australia and around the world,” he wrote.
“The last month has been nothing less than a nightmare. I wish that the results of my A sample had not been leaked, but there is nothing I can do about that.
“To say it one more time: I am innocent and I have not taken this substance as I was accused.
“I have NEVER in my life purchased, researched, possessed, administered, or used synthetic EPO or any other prohibited substance, and never will.”
