MANILA, Philippines — The Senate adopted on Tuesday a resolution expressing profound sympathy and sincere condolences for the death of veteran actress Cherie Gil.

Senate Resolution No. 109 was filed by Senator Ramon Revilla Jr. and sponsored by Senate Majority Leader Joel Villanueva.

During the plenary session, Villanueva recognized the contributions of Gil, dubbed the La Primera Contravida, in the Philippine entertainment industry.

“The craftsmanship she showed in her illustrious career contributed immensely to the development of the Philippine entertainment industry,” Villanueva said, reading a part of the resolution.

“Her professionalism, passion, and dedication, together with her generosity to colleagues, and commitment to excellence all serve as inspiration and guiding light for the younger generation of artists and creative workers,” he added.

All senators were made co-authors of the resolution.
