Selfish drivers surround my home when they park – there’s nothing I can do
A MAN has slammed selfish drivers who park inches from his front door – even though there’s a car park down the road.
Adam Shaw blasted drivers for parking on the narrow road outside his house – with some stopping on the pavement and staying there all day.
It forces parents with prams to struggle along along the narrow road in Huddersfield.
Adam says the issue is made worse by “lazy” staff at a nearby school.
While the school does have a car park, spaces are limited – meaning many opt to park on his street instead.
And parking isn’t the end of Adam’s problems.
He says speeding vehicles often hit the low wall and decorative stonework outside his house. A coach once smashed into his house guttering.
Adam – who has lived on St Helen’s Gate for around three years – says his neighbours share his concerns.
He told Yorkshire Live: “It’s not just parking outside houses – it’s congestion, speeding and a general lack of consideration from parents and teachers.”
Adam has been in touch with the school and says they do remind people to show consideration to local residents.

But he thinks the pleas don’t seem to be heeded.
“Drop-off (by parents) doesn’t bother me. It’s daytime parking of teachers.
“These people work for the school. My neighbour can’t get her pushchair past and has to go into the road.”
Almondbury councillor Bernard McGuin said: “I agree with the resident that this area should have restrictions imposed on it.
“When the school was extended by the planning committee, I did raise concerns about parking and speed.
“We were promised a review of traffic and it has not yet been done.”
