A CAR expert has revealed that your car may have a secret button that allows you to open the petrol tank.

Normally, for most cars, the driver simply has to press down on the petrol tank cover to open it up.

However, if a problem develops with the cover this might not always be possible but some vehicles have a secret button that can open it.

If that happens, the TikToker’s advice is not to grab a screwdriver to prise it open but to open the boot.

On the inside, on the same side as the petrol tank, you need to look for a plastic cover with the logo of a petrol pump on it.

Open that up and there will be a metal pull rope inside.

Just give that a gentle tug and the petrol tank cover should open.

Although drivers should be warned that not all makes and models will have this feature.

In the same clip, “Conggeshuoche” revealed what drivers should do if the car key has drained of power and so you’re unable to start the engine.

His handy tip is to simply press the car’s start button with car key and this should bring the engine to life.

Another tip he revealed was how to reboot the car’s control screen inside which can start to have problems after a long time.

Motorists just need to look for a small hole next to the screen and then simply insert a pin or small stick into it and this will reboot the display.

He also advised on what to do if your car horn isn’t working.

Usually, he said, this is caused by a blown fuse.

To rectify this, find the fuse box under the bonnet, and find the corresponding position of the horn fuse on the back of the cover.

And then simply replace the fuse.

His final tip in the video was showing how you can get out if you find yourself trapped in your car.

Instead of panicking, just climb to the back of the car and find something to insert into the small slot in the boot panel.

Simply slide it across and this should then open the boot so you can climb out.

The car expert has built up a sizeable TikTok page and has 2.8million followers with that particular video picking up more than 149,000 likes and more than 300 comments.

Many commentators went online to point out that not all cars have these features and may be specific to Hyundai.

Others were suitably impressed with the tips.

One said: “Well done, information. Thanks.”

Another wrote: “Thanks. Need to know.”

A third added: “Thank you for hints.”
