Scream 6: New Exclusive Image Offers Another Glimpse at Ghostface

It looks like Ghostface is tearing through New York City in a new image of Scream 6, obtained exclusively by IGN.

The directors and executive producer of the movie – collectively known as Radio Silence, made up of Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, Tyler Gillett, and Chad Villella – went into detail about this shot, which you can see below, a little further during an interview for IGN Fan Fest.

Ghostface is looking a little different in this outing, with a much more weathered mask, and that’s no accident; Bettinelli-Olpin says costuming plays “very heavily” into Scream 6. “In so many ways,” Bettinelli adds.

“Yeah, and our costume designer, Avery [Plewes], who we worked with previously, she took the challenge of the costumes in this, and exceeded expectations,” Bettinelli-Olpin says. “There isn’t a costume in the movie that isn’t fully thought-out and it’s kinda fun.”

Scream 6 will feature returning stars Melissa Barrera, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding, Jenna Ortega, Hayden Panettiere, and Courteney Cox. It leaves its iconic Woodsboro, Calif., location behind as sisters Samantha (Barrera) and Tara (Ortega) and twins Chad (Gooding) and Mindy (Brown) move to New York City, only to be greeted by a new Ghostface killer.

Speaking more about Ghostface, Villella says “a lot of the fun of Ghostface is that it could be anybody and it could be anything.”

“That accessibility really makes it interesting,” he goes on. “And then, obviously, without giving any spoilers away, the way we use it in this movie is also a story point throughout and kind of propels the story forward a little bit.”
