Saturday Kitchen’s Matt Tebbutt interrupts show for emotional moment
Saturday Kitchen presenter Matt Tebbutt couldn’t hold back from gushing over his daughter as he interrupted the programme for a special ‘proud dad’ moment.
The 49-year-old grew emotional on air after he revealed the text he had received from his daughter.
Caught holding his phone, Matt began: ‘Thanks for that Marcus, that was all well and good.
‘I loved your Eton Mess but, to be honest, I have just had a text from my daughter.
‘Proud dad moment, she got a First from university!’
Matt, who shares daughter Jessie and son Henry with wife Lisa, looked visibly emotional as the studio erupted into applause.
Guests including the likes of Strictly Come Dancing star Anita Rani shared her congratulations, as Matt continued: ‘So well done Jess, congratulations!
‘Sorry about taking over TV for my own personal gain, right let’s get back to the script.’
Matt has hosted the BBC’s Saturday Kitchen for 10 years since replacing James Martin, while he also fronts Channel 4’s Food Unwrapped.
While he usually keeps his personal life out of the spotlight, the TV chef revealed he underwent an emergency surgery last year to have his appendix removed.
Matt told his followers: ‘Me, a morphine drip and an emergency appendectomy are keeping me from a much anticipated lunch at @manteca_london with @ollysmith @sarah10016 @hardiegrantuk ….but everything and everyone here at The Grange hospital in Gwent have been fantastic.’
Praising the NHS, he added, alongside an image of him hooked up to a drip: ‘Couldn’t ask for more from such a brilliant health service So grateful. #nhs #nhsnurse #thegrangehospital #appendectomy.’
