Love Island USA fans were left shocked after Sarah Hyland was dressed down by bombshell Mike Stark.
Viewers claimed that her UK counterpart, Maya Jama, 29, would not have tolerated such ‘disrespect.’
The drama happened on Friday’s episode of the dating reality show when Keenan Anunay was evicted from the Fiji villa after receiving the fewest amount of votes.
But in a shock twist his partner Kay Kay Gray, 25, decided to evict herself and join the 23-year-old student on the flight back home.
‘I would also voluntarily like to leave,’ the travel nurse announced to the Modern Family actress, 32.
‘I feel like I found what I came here for and I would like to leave with Keenan.’
Double-checking Kay Kay didn’t want to change her mind, Sarah asked: ‘Before you go anywhere, I just want to make sure that you are absolutely happy with your decision?’
‘No regrets,’ Kay Kay replied.
But then bombshell Mike Stark jumped in and criticised Sarah: ‘Why are you saying it like that?’
‘Me?’ Sarah responded, sounding baffled.
Mike clarified: ‘Yeah that sounded mad disrespectful.’
Visibly shocked, Sarah asked: ‘I’m being disrespectful?’
Mike replied simply: ‘Yeah.’
Taken aback, Sarah brushed off his comments with an ‘okay then’ before moving the programme along.
Viewers were left reeling by Mike’s outburst with one commenting: ‘Wow so you lot disrespect the host like that, imagine someone doing that to @MayaJama in the UK, it would legit be curtains for that individual SO RUDE.’
‘It’s her Job. He’s on a reality show. That’s what she need to do to get answers and some drama. Maya Jama on the UK version does even more than this but does not get disrespected. This is embarrassing,’ another added.
Tagging Love Island UK’s Twitter account, a third wrote: ‘Love Island would never.’
It comes after the UK’s former islander Scott van-der-Sluis entered the US series just three weeks after being dumped from original villa.
‘I was in Love Island UK. I didn’t find love so I thought why not take it international,’ he explained in his introductory clip.
A spin-off from the original UK season, Love Island USA began airing in 2019 and is now in its fifth season.
