Sara Ali Khan talks about her films that didn’t do well at the box office
There’s no doubt about the fact that Sara Ali Khan is indeed one of the most promising actors we have in the current generation. Right from her debut in Kedarnath, she has only scaled high with a mix of content-driven and commercial films. However, some of her massy movies haven’t quite worked out as well as she had expected them to.
Her last few films which include Love Aaj Kal, Coolie No 1, and Atrangi Re hadn’t received the kind of response they set out for. Addressing the same, Sara was quoted on a leading entertainment portal, “I have realised that if you do a film because you think it will work, and then it doesn’t work, then it is very hurtful. It pains you. I never want to do that again. It is important to make films for the right decision and that should be creative satisfaction primarily.”
Talking about Coolie No 1 failing to gain momentum despite being a complete masala film, she was quoted, “I thought this film would be a huge massy entertainer with great songs, colours, and fun. (But) it wasn’t received well. Maybe because it was released on OTT and we were in the middle of the pandemic. And that’s when I realised, was my motivation for doing the film 100 percent pure? And it is the only time when my inner voice said, ‘No’. So, I don’t want to do that.”
She has some interesting releases lined up namely Gaslight, Ae Watan Mere Watan, and also Homi Adajania’s next – all in different genres. She is hopeful and excited about the kind of diverse work she is doing.
