Sansera bags BMW Motorrad’s Rs 300-crore order

Sansera Engineering has bagged its first order from BMW Motorrad worth about ₹300 crore, for the supply of aluminium forging components. The order will be a validation of the company’s ability to manufacture small aluminium forged components and will likely help it win more high-value orders from other marquee global customers. Besides, supply of high-margin aluminium forged components will add to its profitability. The company announced the order win in a stock exchange filing on Friday.

The order is for a period of 10 years for 26 aluminium forged and machined parts, primarily for the new models of BMW Motorrad. The company currently has two lines for aluminium forging and it plans to double the capacity in the next financial year. It is also working on the feasibility of investing in an up to 4,000-tonne press line.

ET learns the company has outstanding orders of ₹1,400 crore on its book, across 49 customers in auto and 30 from non-auto sectors. About 9% of these orders are from electric vehicles and fuel-agnostic solutions. In fiscal 2021, EV and fuel agnostic-solutions accounted for 5% of revenue. Sansera plans to increase this to 15% in the next five years, according to its quarterly presentation for the December 2021 quarter.
