Samsung tells iPhone users it’s “time to get off the fence” in hilarious new ad

Samsung Apple on the fence commercial

TL;DR

  • Samsung released a commercial mocking Apple for not having foldable phones till now.
  • The funny ad shows iPhone users trying to convince a fellow Apple user not to jump over to Samsung’s side.
  • “But on the Samsung side, they have foldable phones and epic cameras,” says the man.

Samsung pokes fun at Apple all the time with funny commercials, even though some of them backfire on the Android phone maker. In its latest dig at the Cupertino company, Samsung is encouraging iPhone users to “get off the fence,” i.e., switch over to its phones.

The 30-second commercial went up yesterday on Samsung’s US YouTube channel. It shows a man sitting on an actual fence, with two iPhone users discouraging him from doing so. “But on the Samsung side, they have foldable phones and epic cameras,” the man says.

“You don’t want to leave. We’re waiting for all that to come over here,” says one of the iPhone users. “Why? It’s already over there,”
replies the fence sitter.

Essentially, Samsung is mocking Apple’s lack of foldable phones. The iPhone maker hasn’t jumped on the bandwagon yet, even though it is Samsung’s biggest competitor. However, it may not be long before Apple joins the party.

As per Samsung’s own expectations, Apple is planning to enter the foldable space with its first product in 2024. That’s just a little more than a year away. It’s expected to be an iPad or a hybrid, though. Even so, if Apple is launching a foldable in 2024, it must already be finalizing plans for it, which means we’ll only see Samsung ramp up the pressure with such ads from now on.
