samsung: Samsung may start beta testing of One UI 5.0 based on Android 13 by July: Reports – Times of India

Samsung is planning to start the open beta testing phase for the One UI 5.0 update based on Android 13 by July 2022. According to SamMobile, this update will give beta testers and the South Korean tech giant plenty of time to improve the new firmware as it plans to release it to the public at the end of 2022 or by early 2023.
Google rolled out the Android 13 developer previews earlier this year. However, Samsung was yet to release any preview builds based on the upcoming update.
Considering Samsung’s intentions to enter the testing stages for Android 13 around mid-summer, the tentative July time-frame for the open beta version could also be extended. Multiple Galaxy devices that include smartphones and tablets will be eligible for the public version of the upcoming One UI 5.0 update as soon as it leaves the beta phase.
Traditionally, newer and higher-end devices will have priority over the others to receive the update. So, it can be assumed that the first Galaxy phones to get Android 13 is likely to be the newly released Galaxy S22 series or the upcoming foldable devices — the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Flip 4.
However, it is important to note that apart from One UI 5.0, Samsung is also parallelly developing One UI 4.1.1 for its upcoming foldable phones. Nonetheless, One UI 5.0 will be more widely available compared to the One UI 4.1.1 update, which is likely to remain exclusive for a handful of devices. If you don’t consider the beta builds, One UI 4.1.1 will be the first update to arrive on the market.
