Samsung owners just discovering hidden button – millions urged to press it today

SAMSUNG owners are only just realising there’s a hidden button on the back of their device.

The secret button has a range of capabilities, such as activating Google Assistant or taking screenshots – so Samsung owners are being urged to make use of it.

Here are all the things you can do with this mystery switch:

• Take and share a screenshot
• Activate Google Assistant
• Start pop-up window
• Open an app
• Show notifications
• Show recent apps
• Back button

The little-known button, which was introduced late last year, can be turned on via a Samsung-native app called Good Lock – which is used access more precise settings on your device.

From there you can download another app called RegiStar, under the Life up tab in Good Lock.

Although, it’s worth double checking that RegiStar is not already be installed on your device.

Once you’re inside RegiStar, simply follow these steps to set up your hidden button:

1. Open the Good Lock app.
2. Tap on RegiStar to open it.
3. Go to Settings extensions and select the Back-Tap option.
4. On the next page, turn on the toggle for the Back-Tap action button to enable it.
5. Next, tap on Double Tap and pick an action to assign to the gesture on the following screen.
   • You can also choose to open an app or access any of its features or menus, where they’re supported.
6. Finally, select Triple Tap and set a different action for that as well.

So, when you want to perform actions you’ve assigned to the Back Tap gesture, simply double-tap or triple-tap the back of your phone with your fingertips, and it’ll trigger them.

There’s a few key things to keep in mind about this hidden button, however.

The feature will only work if you have at least 15 per cent battery life.

The phone must be unlocked and open when you tap it.

It’s also important to note that if you’ve got your phone in a case, you might have to tap more firmly for the device to pick up on the tap.

But you can tweak the sensitivity of your taps to suit you and what pressure you’d like them.

Perhaps the biggest catch about mystery button feature is that it is only available to a select number of Samsung owners.

To support the feature, Samsung devices must be operating on Android 13 – One UI 5.0 – and above.

They must also be using a Galaxy phone capable of the Back Tap feature, such as the Galaxy S22 series and select Fold and Flip devices.
