Marvel releases a short trailer for the upcoming Captain America: Symbol of Truth, which comes from Tochi Onyebuchi, R.B. Silva and Jesus Aburtov.
Sam Wilson is soaring high as Captain America in a new trailer for Marvel’s Captain America: Symbol of Truth.
Marvel took to Twitter to post a short Captain America: Symbol of Truth trailer, which shows Wilson’s Captain America teaming up with the new Falcon, Joaquín Torres. The footage depicts Wilson taking on a number of different masked bad guys while holding tightly to the Captain America shield. He and Torres then take to the skies alongside Redwing and continue to dismantle whatever villain foolishly stands in their way.
Captain America: Symbol of Truth takes place after The United States of Captain America, a series in which Wilson decided to take on the Captain America title once again. Captain America: Symbol of Truth will see the character embark on a journey across the globe as he figures out what it means to represent America to other nations. “When so much of American foreign policy historically has been founded on operating in the shadows, manipulating federal employees or members of another government into enacting regime change for the benefit of various corporate interests, what is it going to look like when Sam runs up against the people who would wish to manipulate him for their own ends in terms of furthering ‘America’s interests’ abroad?” writer Tochi Onyebuchi said of the series. “What does it mean to be the ‘Symbol of Truth’ in that context?”
Steve Rogers’ Captain America is still alive and well throughout the series, as the two will team up together in Captain America #0 written by Onyebuchi, Collin Kelly and Jackson Lanzing, with art by Mattia De Iulis. Following the issue, Rogers will depart for his own solo series, Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty, which kicks off in June.
The plot synopsis for Captain America: Symbol of Truth #1 reads, “CAPTAIN AMERICA SOARS AGAIN! Sam Wilson picks up the shield once more — and enters a world of trouble! Following a lead from Misty Knight, Sam intercepts a mysterious group hijacking what appears to be an empty train. As he digs deeper, he discovers that the plot may be connected to a crucial piece of Captain America history…and, surprisingly, Wakanda. Captain America: Symbol of Truth #1 comes from Onyebuchi, R.B. Silva and Jesus Aburtov. The issue releases on May 11 from Marvel.
