Safest country for solo tourists is a ‘bucket list place’

Solo travel is on the rise and many Britons are heading off to explore the world alone this summer.

A new study from the travel experts at Bounce has found this year’s best destinations for solo travellers.

The team looked at the number of attractions, prices of accommodation and food, average temperature and safety to find the best spots.

Luckily for British travellers, the winning country for solo travel is just a short flight away from the UK.

With outstanding natural beauty, breathtaking beaches and incredible historical sites, this country really has it all.

Croatia topped the rankings, scoring highly on safety, price of accommodation and food and the number of attractions.

The coastal country has some of Europe’s most beautiful beaches and breathtaking natural wonders.

Croatia’s Plitvice Lakes are one of the continent’s most stunning destinations and tourists can walk around the park to see the waterfalls.

A tourist ‘Suzanne M’ wrote on Tripadvisor: “Do not miss! This is absolutely a bucket list place.”

City break fans might enjoy a holiday to Split, a coastal city with beaches and historical attractions such as the ancient Diocletian’s Palace.

Dubrovnik is another of Croatia’s leading destinations and tourists can walk the city’s walls for spectacular views.

Intrepid travellers could combine a trip to Croatia with Slovenia, the ranking’s third highest scored destination.

Croatia joined the Schengen Zone this year so British tourists can visit for 90 out of every 180 days.
