The Bavarians went behind after 27 minutes at the Etihad Stadium in their Champions League quarter-final first-leg showdown with City, with Rodri scoring a stunning, long-range effort with his weaker left foot.
But Bayern rallied at the start of the second half and were very unfortunate not to equalise, before an error from Dayot Upamecano gifted the hosts – and Bernardo Silva – another goal.
Erling Haaland rounded off the rout six minutes later, though Thomas Tuchel was really happy with his side’s performance despite the scoreline as Bayern recorded the highest possession of an opposition team against Guardiola at the Etihad.
Although Tuchel had tried to raise the spirits of his players after the match, German newspaper BILD are now reporting that things become heated in the away dressing afterwards while their manager was doing his press duties.
There was a big bust-up between Mane and Sane which had carried over from the pitch, with the Senegalese forward seemingly unhappy with the way his team-mate had spoken to him.
After returning to the dressing room, Mane reignited his argument and then ‘suddenly attacked’ Sane, allegedly hitting him in the face.
Other members of the Bayern team jumped in at this point and separated the two players, with Sane sent out of the dressing room in order to calm things down.
According to BILD, the former City winger was left with marks on his face from the altercation.
It is unclear what exactly Mane was so unhappy about, but late in the match he was seen arguing with Sane over a failed attack and the ex-Liverpool attacker seemed unhappy that he had not been passed to.
It is not the first time Mane’s temperament has been questioned recently, with the 31-year-old having angrily confronted former manager Julian Nagelsmann in front of the rest of the squad shortly before his dismissal – an incident that contributed to his sacking.
Mane has struggled since his £35million move to Bayern, with injury disrupting a season in which he has scored just six times in 20 Bundesliga appearances, plus three more in the Champions League.
Speaking about the forward recently, Tuchel said: ‘Strikers like Sadio are sensitive. That is the key. It is about trust and patience.’
