Sadio Mane is on the verge of leaving Bayern Munich after agreeing to join Al-Nassr, according to reports.

The 31-year-old struggled to make an impact in his first season in the Bundesliga following his arrival from Liverpool in a £35 million deal last summer.

Mane’s position within the squad was also thrown in further doubt towards the end of last season after he was suspended by Bayern for punching his teammate Leroy Sane.

The Senegal international had been linked with a potential return to the Premier League but according to L’Equipe, he is now nearing a move to the Saudi Pro League.

The report claims that Mane has reached an agreement in principle with Al-Nassr, however, the Saudi club must now finalise a deal with Bayern.

Al-Nassr signed Cristiano Ronaldo last December and have been active this summer by bringing in Seko Fofana from Lens for €25m (£21.5m) and Marcelo Brozovic from Inter for €18m (£15.5m).

Speaking last weekend, Thomas Tuchel made it clear that Mane is likely to leave Bayern this summer.

‘He [Mane] fell short of expectations,’ Tuchel said.

‘The competitive situation is extremely high, the starting position is not easy for him.

‘The player knows that too, he knows my opinion and the opinion of the club.’
