Sadie Frost opens up on being ‘married young’ after Jude Law heartache
Quant filmmaker Sadie Frost, 57, has reflected on how her ex-husband Jude Law, 50, helped her experience Hollywood in a more positive light than some of her contemporaries.
As a young actress, Sadie lived in Los Angeles with fellow movie star Jude, prior to their split in 2003.
Sadie, who shares three children with her ex; Iris Law, 22, Rudy Law, 20, and Raff Law, 26, and is also mum to her eldest son Finlay Munro Kemp, 32, from her previous marriage to Spandau Ballet’s Gary Kemp, feels that being married “very young” helped her at the beginning of her movie career.
In an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk as she prepares to headline the Postcards from Midlife Live event in May, Sadie was quizzed on what Hollywood was really like for her behind-the-scenes.
She explained: “Yeah, I think I did have good experiences.

“I think I’ve always been quite independent and quite savvy that I, kind of, navigated my way through things.
“And I think I tried to stay clear of certain things. I was just very aware.”
Sadie went on to credit her ex-partner for helping her through her rise to fame, and her parents bringing her up to be “quite feisty”.
The star’s mum, Mary Davidson, was also an actress and in the public eye, while her father, David Vaughan, was well-known as an artist.
Sadie continued of their influence on her: “I think my parents brought me up in a way to make me very, you know, I was always quite feisty.
“And I was married very young, and, you know, I had a husband and we were living in Hollywood.
“And I always had a partner so I just felt, like, quite supported.
“My agents were always really good,” Sadie added.
Addressing Hollywood at the time, she said: “So, for me, you know, also there’s always stuff that happens.
“But there’s nothing I had. I had a good time,” the filmmaker clarified.
It comes after Sadie shared her heartbreak over her divorce from Jude in her candid 2010 autobiography, Crazy Days.
After giving birth to the former couple’s first son, Rafferty, in 1996, she struggled through severe postnatal depression, which she blames for her marriage ending.
She wrote: “The more I worried about my condition, the more self-obsessed I became and the less attention I gave to Jude.
“Back in London, we were busy with the children and our careers. Jude was up for lots more roles and I was still feeling low, struggling to hold the relationship together, feeling threatened.”
Sadie recalled knowing her marriage to Jude was over after a holiday in Thailand, during which she was “underweight, depressed and scared”.
“I asked him if he loved me but he didn’t need to reply – I knew the answer. The moment had arrived and I knew the relationship with the man I loved was over,” she admitted in the memoir.
