The presenter and reality star, 34, hosted the allocation draw for this year’s contest alongside AJ Odudu last month, and will also be co-hosting the semi-finals.
Alesha Dixon, Graham Norton and Hannah Waddingham will be at the helm of presenting the Grand Final in Liverpool next month, and will be joined by Ukrainian singer, composer and Hardkiss band frontwoman Julia Sanina.
Taking turns with Graham in the commentary box will be Mel Giedroyc, while Scott Mills and Rylan will be providing commentary for the semi-finals.
There’s been plenty of excitement as the countdown gets underway, however when Rylan was met with one particular vicious troll who didn’t seem to be a fan, he made sure to call him out.
After Rylan posted a status joking that he ‘couldn’t wait to get back to like Azerbaijan or San Marino where I can roll around the streets living my best life for a week with no one knowing who I am’, one person replied with a malicious comment.
‘Why have you bum bandits hijacked Eurovision,’ the account wrote.
Not willing to let the comment slide, Rylan decided to tell the troll that they should ‘go f***yourself cause we won’t’.
Clearly incensed, the troll then continued: ‘Thank goodness. It was enjoyable when Terry Wogan presented it he was funny and cringy at the same time, brilliant but now you lot have hijacked it , …why is there so much gayness on TV now? No-one cares about people’s sexuality but don’t rub it in the face.’
Ending the exchange, Rylan then joked, ‘Mate do you mind, I got a load of fellas coming over in a min this is v[ery] distracting.’
His responses caught plenty of people’s attention, including the UK’s entrant Mae Muller, who said she would be ‘framing’ Rylan’s replies.
As one person pointed out: ‘ Ah yes Eurovision, that notoriously straight event.’
Another added: ‘If he thinks you’re the one that turned Eurovision gay I suspect he may not be an actual fan.’
Ahead of the event, excitement is building for Rylan, who will be appearing on a special episode of The Archers.
The village’s variety show will have a guest judge this year, as Rylan arrives to help with the judging in the episode that will be aired on May 12, the day before the final.
The Eurovision Song Contest final airs on Saturday, May 13 on BBC One.
