Ryanair flight warning as MORE cabin crew to go on strike next week

RYANAIR passengers could face more problems next week as another union has confirmed they will strike.

Unions representing staff and cabin crew for Ryanair in Italy have called a 24-hour strike on June 25.

This coincides with walkouts the budget airline is facing the same day in other parts of Europe.

Italian unions FILT-CGIL and UIL Trasporti said they were seeking improved pay and conditions after staging a four-hour stoppage earlier in June.

Ryanair workers in Spain and Portugal have announced strikes for late June and the Italian unions said they also expected stoppages in France and Belgium.

Spanish union SITCPLA said: “We’re coordinating our actions with European counterparts.”

The Spanish strikes will take place over six days from June 24 to June 26 and June 30 to July 2.

USO’s general secretary of the Ryanair section Lidia Arasanz, said, according to Bloomberg: “We have to resume mobilisation so that the reality of our situation is known and Ryanair is forced to abide by basic labour laws.”

While UK Ryanair crew have not voted to strike, it will affect the thousands of Brits hoping to head to Europe this summer.

However a Ryanair spokesperson previously told Sun Online Travel: “Ryanair has negotiated collective agreements covering 90 per cent of our people across Europe.

“In recent months we have been negotiating improvements to those agreements as we work through the Covid recovery phase.

“Those negotiations are going well and we do not expect widespread disruption this summer.”

The walkout could cause further chaos for Brits this summer after weeks of chaos has seen thousands of flights cancelled.

Earlier this month, Italian pilots and flight attendants went on strike yesterday, causing a number of flight cancellations.

And a British Airways pilot has since said there is “no chance” of summer normality due to a shortage of staff.

They said: “We might be correctly crewed by winter time. There is no chance this will be sorted this summer.”
