Roy Keane tears into Liverpool and explains why Klopp’s touchline message was ignored

Former Manchester United midfielder Roy Keane has claimed Liverpool looked like a “lower league team” during their goalless first half against Manchester City at Anfield. Pep Guardiola’s side dominated possession and would have been ahead had it not been for some smart saves by Alisson.

Liverpool found themselves penned back in front of their own fans and were lucky to get into half-time level.

Jurgen Klopp tried to rally his troops by shouting from his technical box but Keane explains why his instructions were not put into place.

“Jurgen Klopp looked like he was shouting from the bench ‘be brave’ but it’s hard to be brave when you haven’t got the ball,” Keane told Sky Sports.

“But I think Liveprool are playing for all the success they have had as if they’re out of their depth as if they’re a lower league team in the FA Cup playing a big team, they’re stepping back not getting close to people.

“The quality Man City are showing Liverpool need to be more aggressive.

“People say lack of energy but when a team like Man City dominate the ball you look like you’ve got no energy but because you can’t get near people.

“Liverpool got a corner when Kyle Walker gave away a cheap corner they were up on their feet it was like they scored a goal, they need to create something and if you’re not at the races just make a tackle, something but they look one short.”
