Roy Keane has ridiculed Manchester United captain Harry Maguire and Raphael Varane prior to their clash with Tottenham Hotspur.
The former United skipper has been outspoken in his criticism of the England international as the Reds have endured a rollercoaster season. Prior to Saturday’s evening kick-off with Antonio Conte’s side during the warm-up, the 50-year-old took aim at Maguire, as well as the Frenchman for wearing gloves.
Keane was well-known for his hard-hitting, no-nonsense style during his title-winning exploits with Sir Alex Ferguson’s side and has carried it over into punditry. Ralf Rangnick’s side were heading into the tussle looking to bounce back from their miserable cross-city defeat to Manchester City, six days earlier.

As Sky Sports showed pictures of the Reds backline getting put through their paces, both central defenders were wearing gloves. Much to the disgust of the ex-Red, he quipped: “Are they gloves? Are they wearing gloves? Is that what I’m seeing? Am I seeing things? That’s a great message, yeah.”
Presenter Kelly Cates interjected: “Maybe they’ve just got cold hands.” Before the Republic of Ireland midfielder landed one more blow, adding: “Two big strong centre-halves, I don’t mind full-backs [wearing gloves] but your two centre-halves.”
After his outburst, Maguire played without gloves. But the Frenchman continued with the accessory.
