Eight-time Australian rowing national champion Georgia Nesbitt has been hospitalised after suffering serious injuries during a cycling event, Rowing Australia has confirmed.
Nesbitt, 30, suffered her injuries during a criterium race in Tasmania before being transported to hospital from the event and has been placed in an induced coma.

Rowing Australia Chief Executive Ian Robson said the rowing community is rallying around Nesbitt and her family.
“Georgia is one of the most-respected athletes in Australian rowing. The entire rowing family and wider sports community is thinking of Georgia and her family in the wake of this serious accident,” Robson said.
“Rowing Australia offers its ongoing support and assistance to Georgia’s family during this most testing of time. They are foremost in our thoughts.”
Nesbitt represented Australia ten times, including a silver medal at the 2017 World Championships.
She was recently appointed to the board of Rowing Tasmania.
