Ronnie Liang revealed he turned down an offer for him to star in a porn movie, stressing that he values being respected more than gaining fame.

The singer aired his dismay but opted not to disclose who offered him the role, through his Instagram page on Thursday, Nov. 10. Liang also showed himself topless in a pool, noting that he can only bare his body to the public up to such extent.

“I got pissed off and disappointed. I was offered and urged to do PORN movies… Thanks, but NO thanks po,” he said. “I did not sacrifice and study hard all these years only to show my private parts in public — nakakahiya (it’s embarrassing).”

“Without trying to brag, I am already an Army Reservist Officer, a pilot, a master’s degree holder, a brand ambassador of some companies, and other government agencies,” he added. “Madami pa po ako pwedeng gawin at ‘pag ginawa ko ‘yan madaming mawawala sa akin.” (I can still do a lot of things and if I accept [the role], I have a lot to lose.)

Liang then noted that he dedicates all his achievements to God, and doing such roles would be against his beliefs as a Christian.

“Most importantly, please understand that I am a Christian and a follower of Christ. Whatever I have achieved and everything I do is for the honor and glory of God,” he stated. “I am not perfect, super rich, or super famous, but to me, fame and money are only temporary.”

“Self-respect and the respect of my colleagues in and out of showbiz are forever more vital to me,” he said. “Okay lang naman po kung wala akong movie or project. Sa iba niyo na lang po ibigay ang lead role na ‘yan.” (I am OK with not having movies or projects. Give that lead role to somebody else.)

Liang, known for his songs “Ngiti,” “Akala Mo” and “Gusto Kita,” among others, was one of the finalists of the ABS-CBN talent competition “Pinoy Dream Academy.” Liang recently joined efforts in repacking relief goods for families affected by Severe Tropical Storm Paeng. EDV
